According to a recent report by Google and Kantar, China's 50 largest brands experienced a significant increase in their global influence last year. Despite a slowdown in global economic growth, these brands expanded their reach abroad by 17 percent, which is more than double the historical average.

The report, unveiled during the Google Marketing Live conference, highlights that a quarter of the top 50 brands are consumer electronics companies. Among the notable brands in this segment are ByteDance, Shein, and Xiaomi. The smart devices category exhibited the most significant growth in brand power, with a remarkable 61 percent increase.

The group of 50 influential brands also includes prominent manufacturers like Huawei Technologies and Lenovo Group, as well as notable gaming enterprises such as Tencent Holdings, NetEase, MiHoYo, and 37 Interactive Entertainment Network Technology Group. Additionally, eight automotive brands, including Chery Automobile, BYD, and Great Wall Motor, made it to the list.

Both traditional retail and domestic gaming companies have successfully expanded their influence abroad. Furthermore, financial services companies have achieved notable success in Southeast Asia, while the tourism market has experienced a recovery this year due to favorable policies.

Zhang Jun, Vice President of Marketing Insights and Solutions at Google China, highlighted the remarkable overseas expansion in two niche industries last year: short dramas and artificial intelligence tools. The momentum of expansion in these industries was particularly noteworthy. Zhang also mentioned that generative AI has found significant application in the retail and gaming sectors, as these industries require more flexible advertising content.

Overall, China's top brands have demonstrated impressive growth in their global influence, surpassing historical averages. The consumer electronics, gaming, automotive, and financial services sectors have emerged as leading players in expanding their presence abroad. Additionally, the application of generative AI has become increasingly important for industries seeking flexible advertising solutions.
