According to WIRED, OpenAI is preparing to launch a standalone social app built around its AI video generation model, Sora 2. The app closely mirrors the design and user experience of TikTok, signaling its intended market positioning.
The platform features a vertical video feed with swipe navigation and an algorithm-driven “For You” page. On the right side of each video, users can access an interactive menu offering options such as likes, comments, and AI-assisted remixing.
Unlike TikTok and other traditional platforms, however, every piece of content on this app will be AI-generated. Users cannot upload photos or videos from their devices; instead, they can only create original clips of up to 10 seconds using the Sora 2 model.
Internal testing began last week, with employee feedback described as highly positive. Usage has been so frequent that some managers jokingly warned it could affect workplace productivity.
