Kaffa Roastery, the third largest coffee roaster in Finland, has partnered with local artificial intelligence (AI) consulting company Elev to create a unique coffee blend named "AI Cone" using AI tools. The Helsinki-based roastery collaborated with Elev by sharing data on their coffee types, flavors, and sales. Leveraging models similar to ChatGPT and Microsoft's AI assistant Copilot, Elev developed the "AI Cone" to cater to coffee lovers. This new coffee blend is now available in Finland.
To create the "AI Cone", the research team selected coffee beans from Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, and Guatemala. They also designed a packaging label and provided a detailed description of the taste, highlighting its "balance between sweet fruit and ripe fruit flavors." In blind taste tests, coffee experts unanimously agreed that the AI-assisted coffee blend was perfect and required no further adjustments by humans.
Svante Hampf, the founder and managing director of Kaffa Roastery, believes that this collaboration successfully integrates the roastery's artisan skills with the insights provided by AI. The introduction of "AI Cone" not only showcases how AI can inspire professionals but also offers a novel taste experience for coffee enthusiasts. The research team also aims to reduce the workload of coffee roasting practitioners through AI utilization.
