Shanghai Attracts 310K+ Returnees to Supportive Environment

Shanghai, the eastern metropolis of China, has emerged as a favored destination for young entrepreneurs and professionals, attracting over 310,000 Chinese graduates who returned from abroad. This influx can be attributed to the city's supportive policies and favorable business environment.

To facilitate the attraction of talent, Shanghai has strategically developed industrial clusters and implemented targeted measures. The city is actively cultivating a highly skilled workforce, particularly in key industries such as integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, and biomedicine. Furthermore, Shanghai is investing in emerging industries and fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among young individuals.

Shanghai reaffirms its commitment to supporting the innovative endeavors of young talent. The upcoming 5th Shanghai Y50 Forum for Innovation and Entrepreneurship will introduce initiatives like the Shanghai Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Support Program and the Shanghai Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base.

The city's efforts have yielded positive results, with 172,000 highly qualified professionals from both China and abroad choosing Shanghai last year, marking a 12 percent increase from the previous year. Currently, Shanghai is home to over 6.75 million highly qualified professionals, and it has issued 441,000 work permits to foreign workers. Moreover, the city's universities and colleges contributed to a pool of 242,700 full-time graduates in the previous year.
