Reports have emerged stating that Microsoft China is inquiring with approximately 700 to 800 Chinese employees who are involved in machine learning and other cloud computing-related roles, to gauge their interest in relocating to different countries.

A spokesperson from Microsoft stated via email that facilitating internal transfers is a standard practice within the company's global business management approach. As part of this process, Microsoft has extended the option of internal transfers to select employees. However, the spokesperson did not disclose the exact number of employees who were approached. The spokesperson also emphasized that Microsoft remains committed to expanding its business both in China and other markets.

Insiders have revealed that the majority of employees who were questioned are Chinese engineers. Earlier this week, the company presented them with opportunities for redeployment to the United States, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

Microsoft, one of the prominent American enterprises operating in China, entered the Chinese market back in 1992 and currently maintains a significant research and development (R&D) center in the country.
