Starting from November, Chinese supply chain company BOE (Chinese: Jingdongfang) will supply OLED panels for the iPhone 15, marking the first time they provide Apple with flexible island screens.
Previously, BOE supplied OLED panels for the standard versions of the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone 14, which all featured notch screens. However, the iPhone 15 will have a "capsule" shaped screen.
Although the standard version of the iPhone 15 will upgrade to a flexible island screen, the refresh rate will remain the same as the previous generation, at only 60Hz.
It is worth noting that the iPhone 15 Pro series will still be supplied by two suppliers, Samsung and LG Display, with Samsung securing the majority of Apple's orders.
Data shows that during the period from June to September 2023, Samsung supplied 83% of the panels for the iPhone 15 series. Samsung not only supplies panels for the iPhone 15 Pro series but also for a portion of the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus orders. LG Display, on the other hand, provides OLED panels for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
