According to a statement by Apple CEO Tim Cook to BBC News, Apple has expressed its intention to expand its workforce in artificial intelligence in the UK.
Cook reiterated that Apple is actively engaged in the exploration of generative artificial intelligence technology and anticipates a growing investment in both the UK and artificial intelligence by the company. He further emphasized that artificial intelligence plays a crucial role behind the scenes in various functionalities of Apple devices, such as fall detection, crash detection, and predictive auto-correction in iOS 17.
Reports indicate that Apple currently allocates millions of dollars daily towards conversational artificial intelligence research. The company is also in the process of developing a chatbot tool, tentatively named "Apple GPT" by some engineers, to compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT.
