The Kindle, which has been available in China for ten years, has officially come to an end. On June 30, 2023, Amazon's Kindle China e-bookstore officially ceased operations, and Chinese users could no longer purchase new e-books.

As early as a month ago, the Amazon Kindle service account released the "Farewell Handbook", which answered a series of questions related to the suspension of operations and reminded Chinese users to download purchased e-books to local devices or the Kindle library.

For users who have purchased Kindle Unlimited membership benefits in China, Kindle will refund the unexpired part of the membership fee. The refund application portal will be opened on July 1, 2023, and the specific method of refund application will be notified by text message and email.

Amazon also stated that Kindle customer service in China will be supported till June 30, 2024. Chinese users can continue using the Kindle e-book reader to read downloaded e-books. What's more, e-books and personal documents stored on the device will not be affected. After June 30, 2024, users will no longer be able to download the Kindle APP from the app store.

Today, Kindle has come to an end in China, and many users take the initiative to leave messages under the official WeChat of the Kindle service account.

At present, Amazon China's business includes overseas shopping, cross-border e-commerce, cloud technology, smart hardware, etc.

The Kindle e-reader was born in 2007 and is considered one of Amazon's most successful hardware products. Due to the use of electronic paper screens, Kindle is considered eye-friendly and easy to read, taking into account the experience of paper books and the convenience of e-readers. In the few years since the Kindle e-reader was born, e-books have become one of Amazon's fastest-growing categories and set off a global e-book reading boom. In 2013, Kindle officially entered China and once became synonymous with e-books, favored by many literary youths. In 2018, the Kindle reader reached its peak in China, with annual sales exceeding one million.
