Research has shown that household refrigerators are susceptible to heavy contamination by microorganisms, including Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus. Even though the freezer can slow down bacterial growth, it cannot completely eradicate them. With years of use, if the interior of the refrigerator is not cleaned regularly, it can accumulate a shocking amount of dirt and bacteria. Hence, if not used correctly, the refrigerator can even be much dirtier than the toilet.
Therefore, it is strongly recommended to perform a thorough cleaning of the refrigerator at least once a month to ensure its cleanliness and hygiene.

1. Turn off the power and remove all the food from the refrigerator.
2. Take a small stick and carefully insert it into the drain located on the wall of the refrigerator. Just gently clear any debris or blockages that may be present.
3. Dip a clean rag into a solution of medical alcohol or detergent water. Wipe the inner walls and glass compartments of the refrigerator in all directions, ensuring no corners are missed. Afterward, use a separate clean, wet rag to rinse and dry the surfaces.
4. Pay special attention to the refrigerator door seal, as it is often overlooked. Wrap a rag or paper towel around a fork and moisten it with medical alcohol. Thoroughly wipe along the inside of the seal to ensure cleanliness.
5. Before putting the fruits and vegetables back in the refrigerator, it is important to carefully wash them with detergent, rinse them with clean water, and then dry them.
