LG Display recently made an announcement stating that Starbucks' new store features the installation of transparent OLEDs. The store, located in the Yeosu Dosan DT area of South Korea, boasts a remarkable centerpiece: a super-sized "transparent OLED table" measuring 8 meters in length and comprised of 12 55-inch transparent OLEDs. Placed on the first floor of the store, this transparent OLED table creates a captivating wave effect when a drink glass is placed on its surface, thanks to the responsive sensors.

Starbucks Korea's Yeosu Dosan DT Store is part of their "THE stores" initiative, which focuses on promoting culture rather than just coffee. The concept behind this store aligns with Starbucks' strategy of transforming their outlets into iconic destinations. Since its opening, the store has already welcomed over 20,000 visitors within a mere 10 days, with an average of 2,000 visitors per day, even during weekdays.

The transparent OLED technology, currently being mass-produced by LG Display, is the only one of its kind globally that fully leverages the inherent benefits of OLED, where each pixel emits its own light. Notably, transparent OLEDs generate less heat compared to traditional LEDs, making them ideal for indoor use. These displays can be safely integrated into various spaces such as windows, walls, and floors, thanks to the use of specially tempered glass that can bear loads.

In addition to the existing 55-inch transparent OLED, LG Display has plans to expand its product lineup to include 77-inch and 30-inch options in the future. This expansion will further enhance the range of possibilities for incorporating transparent OLED technology in various settings.
