Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently provided testimony in the trial against Google conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). The investigation by the DOJ accuses Google of leveraging its dominant position to establish a monopoly in the search industry.

Although the trial was not publicly accessible, Bloomberg managed to obtain certain excerpts from Nadella's testimony presented before the judge. During the proceedings, Nadella highlighted that Microsoft has invested approximately $100 billion in the development of its Bing search engine. Despite trailing behind Google in terms of market share, Microsoft believes it can make valuable contributions to the internet search industry.

Nadella also addressed the Google attorneys, stating that Microsoft "competes against companies that hold a 97 percent market share."

According to Reuters, Nadella also discussed user preferences for services. He acknowledged that transitioning between search engines is relatively straightforward on desktop platforms but becomes more complex on mobile devices. This aligns with the testimony given by Microsoft executive Jonathan Tinter last week, who claimed that Microsoft had to designate Google as the default search engine on its Surface Duo smartphones to secure Android licenses from Google.
