Recent reports indicate that the release of the Apple iPad Pro 2024 has been delayed until May due to a shortage of OLED panels.
The iPad Pro 2024 comes in both 11-inch and 13-inch versions, with Samsung supplying the 11-inch OLED panel and LG Display providing the 13-inch OLED panel.
According to the report, the yield rate of the 11-inch OLED panels from Samsung was insufficient, causing the delay in the release of the iPad Pro 2024. To address this issue, Apple has shifted some of the 11-inch orders to LG Display.
Currently, the 11-inch OLED panels produced by LG Display have successfully passed Apple's quality tests and meet the necessary requirements. Following adjustments, approximately 60% of the iPad Pro 2024 OLED orders will be fulfilled by LG Display.
The iPad Pro 2024 utilizes a dual-series OLED panel, featuring a screen structure with two emission layers. Compared to a single-layer OLED panel, this double-layer structure offers twice the screen brightness and extends the service life by four times.
