Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding, announced last week that it would discontinue its data center services in Australia and India as part of a strategic reassessment of its global infrastructure investment. The decision comes as the company plans to redirect its focus and increase investments in data centers located in Southeast Asia and Mexico.

Alibaba Cloud specified that the Indian data hub will cease operations at 12 a.m. on July 15, Mumbai time, while the Australian data center will follow suit at 12 a.m. on September 30, Sydney time. To ensure smooth transitions, users are advised to promptly relocate their business operations to Alibaba Cloud's data hubs in Singapore or other available regions.

In a separate development, on April 8, Alibaba Cloud introduced significant price reductions on more than 500 of its products, including core cloud offerings, across 13 countries. The price cuts reached up to 59 percent, with an average reduction of 23 percent in five major product categories, namely computing, storage, network, database, and big data.
